Im wondering whats the best Home Theater for around $600. Ive been looking around at places like best buy, and circuit city. Personally i dont know TOO much about speakers and their specifications, but im not completely ignorant about them either. Personally this will be used for music and movies and id like some nice response along with good bass. Any suggestions?

Are you looking for speakers only or speakers & receiver? If the former look at speakers by JBL which are great sounding and affordable. If the latter then consider getting an HTB, home theatre in a box, system. HTB's are easy to set up and fit in your price range. Imo, and according to Consumer Reports, Panasonic (first choice) or Denon make excellent HTBs. I could be mistaken but you may have to do some price adjusting for 1080p.

I am looking for a HTB, preferably 5.1 or 7.1, but not 2.1. I have a look at Denon but i didnt like what i saw from panasonic. Also, ill remove the 1080p upconversion as its not integral to what i want.

I bought a Sony HTB a few years ago for the in-law's xmas gift. It's actually a nice system but the speakers are hardwired (not to receiver, tho') so difficult to upgrade if wanting to. It may be another brand to consider anyway.

Id rather something like Denon or Onkyo where im still getting quality, just not paying for the name. Id like something along the lines of this

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Sear...stems-_-Onkyo 7.1-Channel Home Theater System

It seems like a pretty nice system, and it has all the I/O i need, im just wondering about the overall quality.

Also, in accordance with music, what does the ohm rating mean? Like, is higher better or worse.

check out the pioneer store if you have one close by, i just bought a home theater system from panasonic for my buddy who's getting married, it's amazing. circuit city actually has a good deal on one that has wireless rear speakers, 1200 watt total output, 5 disc changer, ipod adapter, etc. look around on deal websites like gottadeal.com or dealcatcher.com or bensbargains.net they usually have a lot
