How OK is it to overclock a IPS monitor to run at 72HZ instead of 60HZ?

Today I received a AOC 23" - i2369V IPS LED monitor. I paid about $117 for it so, I decided I can get by with some tinkering.

Will it significantly decrease the lifespan of my monitor if I run it at 72HZ, instead of the 60HZ its supposed to run at?

I haven't noticed any ill effects and everything seems great.

The manufacturer states it can run 1280x1024@75Hz

The pixel frequency it states in the specs is 170MHz should I limit my use to that?

It claims to have a 5ms response time, have I decreased it or have I simply created a makeshift overdrive feature?

    Thanks for reading.

Overclocking a monitor should not decrease its lifespan, but it doesn't seem like yours is made to be OC-ed in the first place. Running at 1280x1024 for a small bump in the refresh rate is not worth it.
If you monitor allows it, you can try it yourself and see how you like it. If the manufacturer thought the OC could be bad for the product reliability or performance, it will probably be locked.

Mine (AOC i2367fh, same LG AH-IPS panel) works fine at 75Hz and overdrive at Medium. Overdrive actually conflicts with higher refresh rates, if you see any artifacts try setting it to low or off and see how it works.

But I run it at 60 most of the time, only movies and games have a noticeable benefit from 70+ Hz.

Lifespan - no idea but from what everyone says, it should not be affected much if there are no artifacts (vertical lines, brighter pixels, etc.).

I know the 5ms response is with Overdrive enabled - without it it's 14ms or something like that.

Hello, I don't have overdrive and am 99% there are no issues. I think you are wrong on "the 5ms response is with Overdrive enabled - without it it's 14ms or something like that." since the spec sheet for my screen says 5ms too. However I still have ghosting issues, how can I get an overdrive feature or do I already have one but with no control?
