Hi,
I'm about to take a trip and want to make sure my drive is safe to be moved (ie heads retracted and locked, etc).
Is there anything I need to do?
Running a Seagate drive in a Apricorn ez-bus-dtc enlosure.
Thanks.

As long as you don't drop it or something, you should be fine.

I would not worry about it as long as the drive is turned off and the enclosure is not being thrown around. Shut it down, wrap it in a towel/blanket/other soft thing and ship it. Of course, it is always good to back up your data.
Cheers
edit: ZaZ beat me to it -
I suggest you buy a external HD case if you are really consern for protecting your HD, like this one which I bought it.

But how do I make sure the heads are retracted? Does they lock automatically when power is cut to the drive, or do I have to do something else?
Is there a utility that gives more control over the hard drive?
How can I make my external drive safe for travel?
