I just bought a Logitech G700 and the cable is extremely stiff. I did some quick Google searches and found out that everyone seems to have this issue and everyone wants Logitech to release a redesigned cable, but it seems doubtful that they will.
One guy in the Logitech forum mentioned transplanting the ends of the included cable onto a braided cable, so I was wondering how I would go about doing that. Yes I could probably just buy a braided Micro-USB cable, but I would rather have one with the end specific to the G700 since it's a better fit.

The G700 is a wireless mouse too... you can just get rid of the cord and use batteries, lol (LSD NiMH) I haven't used the cable since I bought some.

GP RECYKO+ 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batt | eBay

These are the best valued performance per dollar rechargeable AA on the market with much scrutiny and testing behind them on various forums (And personal experience) Ive used them for amp-heavy applications like a camera flash and high powered flashlights and they handle very well. They last 8+ hours per battery with the G700 on the intermediate power mode and pretty much live up to their amp rating.

I know it's wireless and I bought some Sanyo Eneloops because that was recommended nearly everywhere, but I don't want to be stuck with the crappy cord when the battery runs down and I don't have a spare charged one (which I know will happen sooner or later).

As an owner of the G700, I will say that there are two cons:

#1: The biggest problem is the stiff cable and the long lead (the tip/part inserted into the mouse). This causes some snagging and interfering with your movements. You can't just wave your mouse as freely like when it's in wireless mode or even the G500 (my favorite wired mouse).

#2: It only holds one (ONE!!!) AA battery. That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen on a wireless performance mouse. The weight is decent but I think one more battery in there would have made the weight perfect (for me). You know how some wireless mice holds two AA batteries but that if one was taken out, it would still work? Logitech could have done the same and use the one-or-two AA battery option as "weights". I would have used two in there for more weight AND longer playing time. I find myself recharging every day at max gaming. Normal or normal gaming gives me only 12-16 hours more.

So, like the OP, I am also looking for a braided USB-to-USB micro cable. I would prefer Logitech make it so that the tip would fit perfectly, but it looks like they won't. This mouse has been out for a long time and they just chose to ignore it. I tried using a less-stiff USB cable and I noticed that because the tip isn't molded to fit the mouse exactly, it would wobble in there. I really don't want to ruin that port so I stopped using it. Splicing the original USB and modding it with a braided cable is also out of the question because the tip is still stiff and long. It would snag or bump into the wire in front of it. I would pay Logitech good money to sell me an upgraded cable. The mouse is perfect if only it didn't have these two 'cons'.

Also, regarding the battery, as a photographer Eneloops are king. Slow discharge is important for a wireless mouse because not everyone remembers to turn the mouse off after use. It also handles better when the mouse sleeps/wakes from inactivity. Fortunately for me, I have over 40 Eneloops all kept in perfect shape with a proper charger that cycles/refreshes them every 10 full discharge-charge cycles. Unfortunately for me, I don't like carrying them just for my mouse.

Yeah I would rather have two battery slots with the option to use one or two.
I'd like to buy an extra OEM cable to mess around with and try to splice the ends over so if I mess up, I still have my original cable to use, but I'm not sure where to buy the cable or even how to splice the ends over...

i just bought the g700 mouse and agree the usb cable is quite stiff. i was thinking of getting those retractable micro usb cables for the flexibility. a braided cable looks much nicer though. if you want the micro usb plug to mould to the g700 maybe use plasticine or blu-tack on it :)
