I bought a Wenger Sahara backpack and the laptop is sited just facing my back. I tought It would be better to place the bottom of the lapton facing my back, since it is the hardest part. But it fits a little bit tight that way so I have to place the scren lid against my back.

How do you place your laptop and what's the best option?

I use my hands to place it in the backpack. Tried my feet but wasn't dexterous enough!! hehehehe.. no seriously, I would put it with the screen to my back. You are more prone to have someone outside knock, or hit your backpack, or bang it against something that could damage the screen. Unless you lay on your back alot with your backpack on, I don't see YOU being the cause for such an accident. Just my 2 cents...

i have a laptop backpack. i put it with the back of the laptop on my back, the screen facing the inside of the bag, and i make sure the dvd rom is facing up, not down. so if i rest it on the floor theres no pressure on the dvd drive.

bottom of the laptop on my back, I normally have something like a gym shirt/towel over the front/LCD portion of the laptop to give a bit of cushion in case something hits it.

I put my laptop in my sleeve, and put it into a regular single pocket Jansport backpack. It can fit my 1520, 3 large books and 3 notebooks. So it isn't bad at all.

Of course, the laptop, being the biggest goes into the back.

Is it really needed a sleeve when using a padded laptop backpak? I think it offers more protection to dirt, but my laptop fits so thight now that I couldn't use it anyway.

I use a regular messenger bag. I use a notebook sleeve also, then put it in my bag, bottom of notebook facing my back.

with messenger bag inside a sleeve, top of laptop faces out and opens facing floor.

in backpack, dvd drive on the bottom, bottom of lappy faces my back. my laptop hinge has suffered damage before so im minimizing pressure...

I have a Targus sleeve that I put my laptop in. Then it goes into my Jansport backpack (nothing special for laptops). I just put it in front of any heavy books and behind the lighter stuff.

I also have a Kata bag that can carry my laptop (special pocket, so I don't use a sleeve) and dSLR.

case logic sleeve then messenger back. goes in with the battery at the bottom, then the screen facing me.

backpack, dvd at the top and screen still facing me. i cannot stress the usefulness of the sleeve. acts as a clean stand for the laptop and cushion. i dropped my bag with my laptop once. lol
