I have a scratched CD and none of my drives can read it. Does anyone know a solution to cleaning it? I've googled it, but they don't explain it well.

I doubt you can fix it but it depends on how scratched your talking about. Once its scratched the data is literraly corrupted

depends on how scratched it is. I think there are solutions/pastes that can get rid of light scratches but if there are heavy/deep ones, i dont think theyll fix them

If the mirrored (label) side of the CD is scratched, the CD is fuX0r3d more often than not.

If the clear plastic side of the CD is scratched then plastic polish (car wax and even toothpaste can also work in a pinch) may fix the CD. Polish the disc surface in radial strokes out from the disc center.

Watch out that whatever surface the CD is sitting on when it's being polished can't scratch said mirrored (label) side.

Also, if one's working with a scratched DVD instead of a CD, note that DVDs don't have an exposed mirrored side--it's sandwiched out of harm's way between the DVD's two outer clear plastic layers. Just treat the DVD the same as one would a pair of CDs siamesed together.

Just send it to some DVD Rental Store, they have professional CD/DVD repair equipment usually. They'll probably fix it for 5 bucks

Heh. Are you by any chance referring to an XBox 360 disc?

I made the mistake of moving my 360 while GH3 was in it. Biiiigg mistake. Now it's been added to my collection of expensive coasters.
