I want a MID. And the closest thing thats out thus far is....the iPod touch. Sadly though, it lacks a hard drive, which kind of ticks me off, slightly. I'll probably be waiting for the MIDs to start coming out and then just get one of those.
The Archos 605 wifi is very close as well. At $300 it nets you a 30GB hard drive and a 4.3" touchscreen. However, Archos nickels and dimes you for everything. VOB? That'll be $30. Web-browser (even though you already have wifi)? $40. More media codecs you need, the more $$ you will shell out. It kinda ticks me off. And even with the $40 web browser, the web experience isn't as good as the iPhone/iTouch. But you do get a larger screen, more codecs built in (and extra codecs are available, even if they are a total ripoff), and a hard drive. So its got its own set of pluses and minuses.
I think overall, it means I'm gonna wait for the first set of Intel MIDs to come out.

What's VOB?
EDIT: Never mind... Google told me. -

Apple doesn't have the wireless syncing with the touch and phone. Though, the wifi music store may make up for it (for those souls who use it). I'd rather not pay for music I don't listen to (itms doesn't have Indian music, so I don't use it), so wireless syncing makes a ton more sense for me.

Well, the iPod Touch does have web browsing and YouTube...to me that's really a big feature.
-
Yes, that is the defining feature of the touch. Even the multimedia experience (though the best I have seen on an iPod) cannot compare to the sheer awesomeness of web on the phone and touch. Actually, I think the phone works better for the web browsing, due to the EDGE stuff (slow) if there isn't any wifi available, and imo the thicker casing is easier to hold.
I haven't really tried youtube on them, but I assume it will be pretty good at least. -
I tried YouTube on my brother's new iPod Touch...it works really well. Loading times weren't that long, and quality is pretty good, considering its a YouTube video. I would almost say it looks better than on YouTube from a computer.

biggest drawback of the ipod touch is the measly space sizes. they really shouldve put something like an 80GB drive in there, it mightve made it thicker but you could actually play your fav movies on it. Here you can only put a few and have to replace them more often and maybe have to choose between music and videos.
the Zune's 3.2" screen will not be much smaller than the 3.5" on the touch and it holds upto 70GB of videos (actual size of 80GB being 70 something). the youtube and internet browsing are the only redeeming features left in the touch after that. -

One thing I read in an article linked from I believe touchtip.com was that Microsoft knows how to treat their existing Zune users...by providing them with the latest software through easy download and updates. I hope Apple will do the same. -

And the refurb Zune is $100 at Woot again.

hmm buy.com has a pre-order for the zune 30GB (the new version i dunno?) for $99.99
-
The new version is 80GB for $130, the old one is 30GB for $100. Pretty fair i'd say.
-
the new zune is $250....

Does anyone have any feedback on Zune syncing? How does it work? Can I use WMP11?
How is the Zune Doing?
