I've been using an old logitech optical for over 4 years, and it's starting to wear out on me. I have some crappy HP one i accidently purchased now, and it's difficult to play with. I could around around 1 minute on solitaire, now it's taking me quiet a bit more. I keep clicking out of the borders which keeps messing me up. It feels like it either doesn't accelerate enough on small moves and accelerates way too much on big moves.
So, how long does it take to get used to a new mouse?

There are few settings that you can change in the control panel under Mouse properties like : Pointer speed, Pointer precision and double click speed. Other than that I guess youll have to just use it for a while

If its a gaming mouse and it doesn't fit straight away then ditch it I say.
Like the above poster said, adjust the settings. If it still doesn't work, get a decent mouse -
It depends I would give it a month. If it feels ok then you are getting used to it.. if it feels like uncomfortable junk.. literally like junk then it will never work. I have had this experience coming off 5 years with a Logitech MX1000 transferring to a Microsoft wireless laser 5000... ended up buying another mouse.

When I switched over to my MS BT Wireless 5000..it was much smaller than my Wireless mouse that I was using on my desktop/lappy.
It took me about 1.5 weeks, to get completely used to it. Then one day, it just *worked* for me ~ and I have been extremely happy with it since!
Try it out a bit longer...you could very well get used to it! But, be wary of the return policy expiration date, in case you end up returning it for refund/exchange!

The thing is, I accidentally bought it thinking I would use it. It was from HP when I was buying a laptop. I have had the mouse too long to return now. I don't like it... Trying to sell it to purchase a razed krait or a diamondback. I don't play FPS so I need an RTS mouse. My old optical failing me t clicks, so bad APM. Lalala so hard to type on my iPhone.

Oh, and iPhone typing..I use my cell for texting/IMing during the day..and I know the feeling!
oh Lulz.
Good luck! Keep us posted on which one you ended up getting!

I'm suprised that I got used to the VX Nano so quickly, it took me about 3 days... when I first picked it up it felt horribly wrong and thought I purchased the wrong mouse but its much better now.

Has always taken AGES for me.

Getting used to mice - reasonably quick for me.
First it was trakpad only (first computer in the house was a laptop) then a little Medion mouse (came with a Medion laptop) then Logitech... another Medion with batteries that didn't last...
Anyway: now I'm on a Sony bluetooth mouse - and its more a design object than functional mouse. Initially it felt very wrong (respended perfectly though) and less than a week - I got used to it.
But I suppose it depends really on the personality. -

How quickly you get used to a mouse depends on the mouse. A really good one shouldn't take any more than a few days to get used to. Otherwise it's an indication that it's either a bad mouse, or it's not a good fit for you.

Buy a better mouse pad.... it speeds up the mouse if used correctly... practice micro on the mouse/keyboard without computer turned on to practice. I typed on the wasd keys for 5 hours without the computer on to practice my fingering for FPS games...

Well, I'm using my Sony Bluetooth mouse without a mouse pad and it works fine. On modern mice (or mouses ??) you shouldn't need a mouse pad (except maybe for gaming or other precision control rquireing software)
