    Newegg.com - GeChic On-Lap 2501B 15.6” LCD Portable Monitor with Built-In Battery, HDMI & VGA input

I got this product. The sound comes out of the monitor and I can't use my headphones unless I plug into the external monitor and because of where the ports are located on my laptop, this causes the headphones to string in between the screens and I'd like to know an elegant solution to this. It's just mildly visually distracting.

So, I take it you are connected via HDMI? Easy, right click the speaker icon in the taskbar, click on playback devices and set whatever your laptop's soundcard is as the default device.
