    How to check if my mic is working fine or its some other problem!

    HI

    I have a Dell INSPIRON E1505 laptop..The problem is that while chat on skype or yahoo msgr I can cleary hear the other person on my headset, but the person cant hear me! I tried the headset on another toshiba laptop and it was working fine..

    How do i know if the mic is not compatible with my laptop or there is some problem with my laptop!!

    PS: i have checkek that no mute button is on.. :confused:

    have you setup your mic settings in yahoo msgr?

    What operating system?

    Make sure you are plugging the mic into the right input.

    If you're on Windows XP, then go control panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Audio. Then check if your headset is the default sound input device. I've had the same problem before. That worked for me.

    Same basic idea then. I just can't tell you how to do it having never used vista (I'm to smart for that)
    Make sure your mic is installed that that it's the default audio input device.

    due to a different audio management in Vista, you need to plug in your mic first, then go into Yahoo Msgr settings and choose the mic device from there. Every time you unplug the mic those settings reset, so you will have to do the same procedure all over again.

    I've noticed that some PTT mics don't work under Vista properly
