Hello everyone,
Not too sure where I should post this, but there's quite a lot of articles out there telling how to properly clean your laptop screen. Some say use water, some say use alcohol (70%, 91%, etc), and some says both. What's the safest method to clean your laptop screen? Thanks.

i use something called LCD screen cleaner and it's very cheap, i won't use alcohol.

Screen 99, the best stuff there is. It works on everything from keyboards, mice, cases to screens. It's foam so it doesn't ooze all over and mild solvent, it won't take letters off the keyboard just all the dirt that comes from your hands.
One important thing to note, whatever you use to clean the screen with, do not rub it with toilet- or household paper. They might contain some small particles like sand and leave scratches on panel surface. Instead use microfiber cloth or similar. I scratched one screen badly years ago so that's no joke. -
Screen cleaners like what iahmed and KLF mentioned are good because they're designed for modern display panels. My laptops both have plastic covers over the actual LCD panel so whenever I clean them, I don't actually come into contact with the panel itself. Whenever I clean a panel directly, I dab a microfiber cloth with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Alcohol evaporates quickly and cleans really well. I would never use water.

This does not need any cleaner and it works great.

It might require a little pressure to remove smudges but nothing that would damage the screen.Last edited: Nov 23, 2015 -
You only need some cleaning product if you have smudges/sticky stuff on your screen. If it's just dust, a microfiber cloth is all you need.
Make sure you ONLY ever use a microfiber cloth - you don't want to scratch your screen. -
I use baby wipes
Clean from the keyboard to the monitor, then step with kitchen paper. -

I use a microfiber cloth, sometimes with a couple of drops of water to get off smudges.
Visually inspect the cloth before wiping the screen - any particles caught up in there can scratch the screen.
Should you wash the cloth at any point, do so manually in warm water with mild dish soap and let it air dry.
