I bought zalman nc2000 laptop cooler in November from amazon. A few day ago, when i am using my laptop with my laptop cooler running fine. My friend walked by and the power line of the laptop come off. The laptop turned off.

Later when i tried to use the zalman again it does not run. It was not because of my laptop because i tried to plu in another computer and it does not work. I think it has something to do with the usb of the laptop cooler becaue there is no power on both usb.Any one have anyi dea how to fix this

I have a simple idea, and you should be fine applying it,

There are 4 screws on the top of the cooler, unscrew them.I do not know if there are remaining screws on the bottom side, but remove all screws you see. Then find a new usb cable(you can cut a usb cable, from obselete or devices that do not work) and take it and solder to the chip/fans,and it should work.If you can not solder, try to cut the usb cable in the cooler(do not cut all the cable, just cut it so there is a little cable left at the beginning),disassamble it and try to combine the wires inside with the new usb cable you have.It is nice and easy, just a little job that has to do with electronics, than you should be fine.

Good luck on this, try to be patient, you would not want to blow up the electronics. If you can not do this,go to a electronics or computer market/store,they can handle it for you.

Oh,I was totally confused while I was writing the first post. You only need to buy a cable that has a usb end on both 2.That should do the trick.

Hi i have tried to cut the line to the and connect to another usb now my zalman fans are running fine again. The next thing i want to do is apply IC diamond 7 carat thermal compound for gpu and cpu. Does anyone know how to apply thermal compound to gpu because i can not find any instructions on that.

Glad that I could help you.

To apply ICD/(Thermal Past),remove all the screws on the bottom of the laptop, and try to pull the bottom off.Or try to remove the keyboard, then the other screws under it,but mainly, remove all the screws on the bottom, hdd, battery, and try to take the bottom off. After doing so you should see the motherboard and heatsink(s).Try to remove them gently, remove if there is screws, clean the old thermal paste, and apply the new one.Becarefull not to apply much.

food for thought: u might want to hold off on the thermal paste if yur device is still under warranty cuz personal modifications, such as taking yur laptop apart and applying thermal paste, could void yur warranty.

another thing to watch out for is if u don't have alot of experience disassembling and reassembling stuff, i would definitely look online to find some instruction manuals. it will help u figure out which screws u actually need to remove and what steps to take to get to the specific part u are trying to modify. good luck

Does either Cryo or Zalman have a cooler pad which uses passive air flow instead of a USB port?

i don't believe NZXT (makers of the cryo-series coolers) or zalman makes any passive coolers.

as for passive coolers, i think the best 2 choices u have are something like this Targus X Stand or the lapinator. i have the targus x stand and use it pretty regularly. if my laptop is not sitting on it's throne (cryo LX) then it will be on my x stand. it's really light and ergonomic so u can pack it with u anywhere. it's also adjustable so u can adjust it to fit different laptops, up to 17" i believe.

as for the lapinator, i prefer this over other lapdesks cuz it has a simple, straight forward design that actually works. u can also get a mouse attachment for the lapinator so u can use a mouse while using yur lapdesk, or just get the lapinator plus (bigger sized model) and use the extra space as mouse space. another feature that i really love is that there are rubber "bumpers" that raise the rear of yur laptop up, to provide better airflow. what i love about the lapinator is that u can buy extra sets of those rubber "bumpers" and stack them up to further elevate yur laptop.
