Anyway ive had my laptop for a year now and im getting into programs which it would be a advantage to have a external keyboard... Anyway got a ps2 to usb converter for an old microsoft keyboard i have and it doesnt work... Ive looked around and this seems to be a common problem and ive been told you have to get a keyboard that is the same brand as your laptop in this case dell.

So im wondering if thats the case will this keyboard work: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DELL-SLIM-USB-KEYBOARD-VERY-MODERN-SHAPE_W0QQitemZ250431941796QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item3a4ee82ca4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50#ebayphotohosting

    Thanks...

Also if you know of any tricks to get my otherone to work that would be great!

You dont need a Dell branded keyboard to use on a Dell laptop - did Dell tell you this?!

I run a USB Logitech Illuminated K/B with my Vostro 1310 amongst others and it works just fine.

    Any USB keyboard will work.

You can use whatever keyboard you want. You don't have to purchase *brand to brand* ;)

That's a Dell branded keyboard you linked..If you wanted to purchase & use that you could. But, there are some nice brand names you can get for your lappy: Microsoft, Logitech, Kensington, etc!

Your in the UK? You should check out amazon.com

    Hope that helps!

Just pop down to your local computer store, something like Curries of the top off my head in England. I recently picked up a small form factor Logitech USB keyboard for $34AU. Bloody great as well. Just plug the USB plug into your laptop, and windows will automatically detect and install the necessary generic drivers for it. The whole process should only take 15 - 45 seconds, then its ready to use.
