Well I'm thinking of getting this mouse for my macbook and I wonder if anyone can tell me how well this mouse works under OS X. Also I'm not sure of which color to get to go with my aluminum mac... the blue or the white.

Use mine all the time with my Macbook under OS X and Windows 7. Had it for almost a year now. Use it for everything up to gaming. Just don't touch the Logitech drivers. They are SO buggy! Got the Blue one myself. Hides the dirt a bit more, I figure.

How about the Logitech software that lets you customize buttons on ur mouse?

That's the software that's buggy. Install it, and you'll get lag at unpredictable moments (fine on Windows). Logitech's Mac support is absolutely pitiful (look on the Logitech Mac forums and you'll see what I mean). The mouse works great without drivers. But if you need the customizability, you should look at another mouse.

Would I be missing anything if I didn't install the software?

The left/right scroll buttons (works on Windows) will not work on OS X without the drivers. Not a big deal.

Please note that these are not extra buttons but are the functions of tilting the scroll wheel left or right.
