Hello,
I'm looking for your thoughts on this idea I was considering. I was going to make my own notebook cooler that would be built into my wooden desk. The first thing I would do is cut out a 10x16" section of my desk and replace it with a thin sheet of copper. On the underside of the copper sheet, I would attach a four or six CPU heatsinks. Then I would encase them in an intake/outtake system, with the exhaust going out of the side of my desk. Would this give me any benefit at all? I just thought it was a cool idea...

the heat transfer between the plastic shell of your laptop and the copper plate is not that high. Plastic isnt very conductive.
If you have an aluminum macbook, than your idea may work.
I would think a more efficient means of cooling, would be to use some fans blowing air from under your desk, up and at the base of your laptop
