I lost the key to my laptop lock, it's a T-shaped lock made my Targus I think. Is there a way to unlock my laptop now?

    Thanks

You take wire cutters and eat through the wire. Of course, that leaves you with the lock part still attached to your notebook. (Why do I feel like I am advocating for theft?)

I think the only thing you can do is cut the cable or bring it to the locksmith.

If you didnt register your lock with targus you cant just call them for a replacement key. I personally would buy a large bair of clippers and cut the cord.

As said the lock will still be attached but at least its better than having the cord attached.

There are lots of video's on youtube that show you how to pick the locks. I'm not sure that it will help you since all the manufacturers caught on and changed to mechanisms. I would assume you could drill it out.

Next time get a combo lock ;)

there's always the old drill bit trick....sure your lock will be usless afterward but it'll get the lock off......just get a powerdrill and a metal cutting drill bit that is slightly larger than the lock hole and then drill though till the lock is free to be jiggled out......just if anyone's curious, I've had a similar experience in the past.....and yes the locked item was legally mine.
