I would preferably have it be a USB or Firewire but I can also use an express card one. I would love it to be nice and cheap. At least under 100 US Dollars. I really don't know about video format, but I know I would like decent quality, however, I don't have a large external hard drive, probably 50 gb total dedicated to video. And I have about 60 hours recorded on my Dish DVR. I would like to get most of this onto my hard drive and then onto DVD-roms. The input will be the standard antenna output (not svideo or the 3 colored cords).

Hauppauge, ATI and Pinnacle make good external USB TV Tuners. The only ExpressCard TV Tuner that I can think of is the HP Analog TV Tuner, but it costs over $150, if purchased separately.

Try google and the search function. This has been discussed several times. You'll probably get all the information you need by searching through a few of the threads. :)

I have a ATI AIW card that has VIVO (video in/video out). The tuners on ATI cards are very solid and works pretty well. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'm pretty sure a recording program will work with any TV Tuner card.

As an example, I use Intervideo WinDVR to record cable feeds (coaxial cable goes into the TV Tuner). With WinDVR, you have a bunch of different formats you can record to. You can record it as MPEG2 or MPEG. In addition, you can make your own profile to record that adjusts quality, rate, etc to make the recording smaller/larger.

I love my Avermedia PCMCIA DVB-T analouge Hybrid card, I know theyve released a expresscard version in Europe and Aus not to sure about America yet. They also have a USB pen drive series which is the worlds smallest Digital/Analouge TV tuner hybrid (No larger than a standard USB pen drive)
