Sorry for thread hijack but ah well.

Anyone know the best hybrid active+passive cooler? I noticed it's usually either a passive heat sink cooler or a fan based cooler. I'm wanting a two in one so I can rely on passive cooling normally and switch on fans when gaming.

Where are the vents/fans on the laptop? can I get a picture?
(NO, Cryo is NOT for laps. It's like big and heavy, not ideal for laps!)

Although this sounds a bit brutal, you could probably take 5 degress or so off your temps by simply drilling some holes in the base plate over the fan. That intake will be severely limiting the amount of air you could get through your heatsink.

Also, have you tried undervolting yet?

i dont know how to undervolt, it doesnt get hot at all. only when i game it gets hot and i dont like it. will undervolting harm my i7? this thing doesnt even feel its purring, literally. no heat while im doing basic surfing internet etc, None. but does warm up once optimus switches gpu and game mode kicks in.

You've got an i series processor so it turns out you're out of luck for undervolting anyway. Depending on what grapics you have, you might still be able to play about with your GPU voltages.

There really isn't a downside to undervolting. with the exception of BIOS modding to permanently enable a GPU undervolt, it's all done through software. This means that should you push it too far, you just get a BSOD and have to reboot. Once you find your stable voltages then you have a system that runs cooler at no performance cost.

Since you have an Nvidia GPU, I can't help you on what software to use, but I'm sure there's an Nvidia equivalent to ATI tray tools.

Think if i used the last cooler i put on there itd be sufficient for gaming? regular use is not needed just gaming honestly. regularly there is NO heat. just when the GPU kicks in for gaming does it get warm/hot which i want a cooler for for the health of my laptop
