I'm looking at the VX nano.

    Anything better out there?

    Cheers.

It's a tie in my book between the VX Nano and Kensington's SlimBlade Trackball Mouse. I wish someone would combine the smooth tracking and third mouse button of the Logitech with Kensington's awesome free-scrolling, 4-way trackball wheel thing.

I actually use them both--the Logitech mainly at home or the office where I've got plenty of desk space and the Kensington when on-the-go. The trackball feature is really amazing, especially on a plane. I just put it in trackball mode and hold it in my hand.

Free-scrolling always worries me a bit.

My friend has the VX revolution and while a very nice mouse, the middle click sucks hard.

I'll check out the SlimBlade though, sounds interesting.

    Thanks for the quite reply.

Oh man - That thing looks rather ugly.
Does it feel nice in the hand?

    Hello

Just to let you know the VX revolution and MX revolution can both be switched from click wheel to free wheel. The VX is done by the slider on the bottom and the MX is done through Setpoint.

Yeah, I misspoke. When I said free-scrolling, I was referring to the 360 degree scrolling of the SlimBlade, not the free wheel feature of the VX Nano.

    That's cool man.

I don't suppose you know if the VX nano suffers from the same hard to use middle click as the VX revolution?

    Thanks again :D

I never used the VX Revolution. The middle click of the Nano is not the wheel itself, it's the smaller button below the wheel. It looks bigger than the one on the Revolution when I compare the pictures on Logitech's site.

    EXCELLENT.

Because the one on the Revolution is on the wheel and it's extremely difficult to click, you normally just end up getting the black arrows with the dot in the middle for super-fast scrolling.

    Makes closing tabs very difficult.

Looks like it's all about the Nano.

    Many thanks Tasty.

The Nano is an awesome Mouse..I have a Netbook myself..but went with a Dell Bluetooth for my Mini 9. Have you considered another Logitech model?
There is also the Logitech V450:

i have the VX revolution. middle click is easy. you can switch between smooth and rachet scrolling by a slider down the bottom.

the VX revolution runs on one AA battery.

id have to second the v450 nano its a fantastic little mouse i was so impressed with mine i ended up ordering four to give to each of my housemates, i cant really find fault with it and having the micro usb reciever is a big plus as well as stating the batteries will last a year, makes this a very good choice.

VX Nano doesn't middle-click using the wheel. Clicking the wheel swaps from free-wheel to ratchet mode. There is another button behind the wheel that I use as a middle-click.

I use the VX Nano with my notebook and a VX Revolution with my desktop systems, and they're both great. The Nano receiver is a huge plus with a portable system. Leave it plugged in and forget it.

AFAIK, USB mice use less battery power than leaving Bluetooth on.

Thank you all very very much.

I picked up the VX nano (for $90 AUD?!) and it is total, unadultered pleasure.

Obviously the people who say the middle click of the Revolution have got some kinda +1 skills on me, because I struggle with that thing.

    Cheers all.

I have to chime in on this, as well. I LOVE my V450 nano. I loved it so much that I got one for each of my laptops...

    Acer Aspire One netbook
    Toshiba 13.3
    Toshiba 17.1
    HP 15.4

Great little mouse, and the nano receiver is perfect.

I found the following pic, the VX Nano and V450 Nano are similar in shape, but it seems the VX has more fetures.

Yeah the VX nano is pretty symmetrical. I thought that would be an issue but it's comfortable as.
