Hauppage offers a USB unit worth looking in to.

I picked up the LifeView cardbus tuner a couple of months ago and it works really well. http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/products/dual_tv_solution/flydvbt_duo_cardbus.htm

I am using the Hauppauge PVR USB 2, it's just like an internal Hauppauge PVR 250, I really like that unit because it has hardware MPEG 2 decoder, which uses almost no cpu power. The cheaper models use software MPEG decoders which chews up all you cpu power.

I too have a PVR2 USB2 and have to say the picture quality is great. It isn't the most stable product I've ever seen, however. It frequently crashes, requiring a power down and reboot. It does a great job of transferring from tape. The video inputs even ignore Macrovision copy protection.
