    Mouse: Logitech G700
    Sensor: ADNS-9500
    High-DPI user (1.7k+)

Currently using a tight-knit solid black cloth mouse-pad that seems to have gaming-grade material. No fraying edges, has always been clean however slides around due to rubber underneath being worn. (Found it like this). Unlike issues with mice using the Avago 9500 sensor skipping with cloth pads, I experience no such issues. However, the mousepad is very small (about 8"x9") so I am unable to test.

Was originally going to choose an alluminum mousepad but found the Steelseries SX unavailable on Amazon and the Razer Ironclad to be too wide/big with a clashing color (silver). I then came across the Steelseries Experience I-2 glass mousepad but have been finding trouble finding detailed reviews and was wondering if it's worth it over the Goliathus Control/Speed. Any opinions?

I have the Goliathus Control pad that I use with my G700 and I love it. It never moves around and it is nicely made.

On a different not, I don't think I've ever seen that sensor you linked. Does that get installed in the G700 and did it improve anything?

The Avago 9500 sensor is what the G700 uses as well as other gaming mice.

The I-2 and the goliathus are about the same size (1-2" difference in l*w)
I see, thanks for the experience input :)

Goliathus extra-large Speed edition is what I've been using. It's sufficiently enormous and smooth. The Control version is much more textured, too much friction if you ask me.

I got the Razer Goliathus Alpha L-Speed to go with my new razer deathadder, I use to use sk qck heavy but didnt go good with it the speed helped alot goes by smooth and the control for me isnt an issue since i max dpi and polling rate and put the sensitivity really low. I say go speed

Ironically, the control edition will have less friction than the speed edition. Due to the special weave on the mousepad, less surface area will be touching the mouse feet. The weave is supposed to make mice track 'less' for more control, and the speed is supposed to make the mice track 'more' to emulate a higher dpi.

    Something like that.

Having used both (as well as the eXactMat and Vespula, both of which have Speed and Control sides), that's just completely false. The Control surface is rougher, and you feel significantly more resistance in moving your mouse across. The Speed surface is smooth, and the mouse glides across more easily.
