What do you guys say about having a Laptop Silicon Cover? Is it good , bad or what?
My dv8t keyboard has begin to fade so I "was" in the market for a silicon cover as I just purchased one a few days although shipping from HK takes around 2 weeks!!!

I considered this recently too, as my old laptop's keyboard got a bit dirty. Did you order from DealExtreme?

Another thing that's holding me off is, will the silicon cover be thick enough so that it applies pressure to the screen (leaving marks every time I close/open etc.)?

I use one on both my notebooks, its a bit different than the normal type as it covers the entire area including touchpad and palm rests etc. I have used the keyboard area only types as well

The main downside and only downside I found was the fact that it traps heat in. Otherwise they kept the keys squeeky clean

I bought it off ebay =D for less than $5 with free shipping!
The seller says that the cover does not apply pressure or touch the screen when closed. See link

    I use one, it's pretty nice :D

They're pretty cheap and they do keep the keys nice and new :D

They don't apply pressure to the screen no. I'm using a silicone keyboard cover and a mousepad between my screen and my keyboard and there's no problem :p

I have been using one on my Dell Inspiron 1420 for approximately 1.5 years. It served me very well as it kept the dust away from entering the gap between the keyboard. IMHO, it is a must in order to keep your keyboard clean.

QFT. Many laptops are designed to have some airflow through the keyboard. Not sure how you'd test if your computer was one of those, though.
