I've been fixing up/re-formatting an old Toshiba A65-S126 notebook (manufactured around 2004) for my nephew, and if I lay it on a flat (non-ventilated) surface at room temp it usually overheats and shuts down within 10-30 minutes (when the CPU is at 60% usage). -So I was wondering what would be the best cooling pad to compliment this model?
Note: I'm looking for something within the $20-30 price range; strongly leaning towards the Cooler Master Notepal Infinite.
Measurements: 3.5 x 11.1 inches deep, by 2.1 inches high (15 inch screen)
Weight: 7.1 lbs

Holy moley! What have you got in there a Pentium 4? (if I recall correctly) have you cleaned out the insides? (for dust)
As for cooling suggestions, the notepal infinite is a good choice, should at least keep the notebook from over heating. Those P4s sure are warm. -
Yeah though, I've cleaned the base-fan/restored new thermal paste onto the heatsink; it helped a heap but that P4 still overheats (due to the inadequate ventilation design).
In fact I got bored yesterday and jimmy-rigged up a white-trash cooling fan (placed a household box-fan between 2 tables; with notebook on top), placed the fan on low and it did the track ROFL!!!!!
Thanks for the advice!!! -
One more question: I'm positively leaning towards the NP-Infinite, but (to be sure since I want to get this right) would a Logitech N100 possibly do the job as well?
-Only thing keeping me at 95% (and not 100%) about the Notepal is that, is it comfy? Can I put on my lap, and will it not be a heavy drag-down?
Thanks in advance again! -
very lap friendly. i use it everyday.
