Razer now offers replacement ear cushions for these two headsets. In addition to the standard cloth ear cushions like the ones your headset came with, they now also offer leatherette cushions as well, which is pretty exciting.
It's $14.99 for either the cloth or leatherette cushions. I just ordered a pair of the leatherette cushions for my Carcharias...the fact that the cloth ones get dirty so easily has always been one of my biggest complaints about the headset, so this should be a welcome change.

I have the Carcharias - I agree the cloth pads collect a lot of dust and other stuff. Not sure I'm willing to pay 20% of the headphone's price though to eliminate the problem though.
A good way to clean the cloth is a piece of sticky tape. -
I might get a Megadolon soon, if I can afford it.
-
I won it in Razer's Random Loot Giveaway on Black Friday last year...score! Anyway, when the leatherette ear cushions get here, I'll be sure to let you know if they're worth it.
Thanks for the heads up on the sticky tape, though, I'll have to try that.

Lol, that's why you're getting the Megalodon, not the Carcharias.

letherette pads make your ears sweat, which is not nice for long sessions, but it also causes ear infections.

I got the leatherette cushions a few days ago...the process of replacing them was fairly easy. The cushions on the headset just twist off. It takes a bit of force to do, so they're never going to accidentally fall off, but it's still pretty simple. Just a few degrees of rotation and they slide right off. The replacement pads go on the same way.
These things are wicked comfortable. They're the same size and shape as the original cloth cushions, so the fit is familiar. But it's quite nice having cushions that don't pick up dust and lint from EVERYTHING, and they don't take my chest-length hair with them when I take them off, which the cloth pads definitely did.
As for sound quality, Razer claims that the leather pads offer greater isolation, which I'm sure is true, although I haven't really verified this with another person in the room. From my perspective while wearing them, the bass definitely seems to be a bit more emphasized than it used to be, although it's very subtle.
Overall, I'm impressed, and I recommend the leatherette cushions to anyone with either of these headsets, especially if you're sick of the cloth ones grabbing lint all the time. -
Can anyone tell me how to put the replacement ear cushions on? I'm having a lot of trouble with them, I've been trying for the past hour and I just can't figure out how to put them on
-
To get the old ones off, you have to twist them a few degrees (I forget which direction), and then they should just come straight out. Putting them back in is pretty much the same but backwards, although it is a bit trickier than taking them off. Basically, make sure the three tabs line up in the three holes on the headphone, press it in firmly and twist. When you twist it in, you may have to grab it by the actual cushioning with two fingers for better leverage.

Which are better though... the Carcharias, or Megalodon?
Do you notice the 7.1 surround sound when playing or would it be better to get the Carcharias so it can plug into most devices?... -
In terms of actual headphone quality, they're identical. The essential difference is that the Megalodon has an integrated USB sound card that processes the virtual 7.1 surround...personally, I've never had any trouble discerning locations of sounds with a stereo headset, and I've always thought virtual surround sound is something of a gimmick.
Personally I would recommend the Carcharias. -
Thanks!

UNLESS, the headset is full of bacteria (who know what happened inside the phone).
If you have a Razer Megalodon or Carcharias headset...
