Lately ive tried to set my notebook up as a desktop (keyboard mouse laptop holder etc.) and it just doesn't seem to work because of how small everything is. My res is 1680 x 1050 and is a 15in screen. So now im looking into getting an external monitor for it. Preferably wides screen and 17+ inch. Ive been looking around on ebay and some of those prices are a steel but the shipping gets yah. So does anyone have some good knowledge of this subject to give me some advice? I'm not looking for anything fancy just something to get through the next few years. Thanks

Dell monitors are almost always a good bet. Check out the E207WFP or 2007WFP.

The industrial standard today is 19"+ widescreen. I would recommend getting at least 19".

22in Acers were on sale at Circuit City, Best Buy and Staples last week. There are still some left in B&M stores. Anyway for $199 its a very good price.

Unfortunately, finding a WSXGA+ on a 19" is pretty hard, I find that by only bumping up to 20" will you find that resolution.

As mentioned, Dell produces some great monitors, inexpensive yet of great quality.

I recommend Samsung monitors. I got mine at a pretty good price on Newegg.com
