Hi everyone. I am looking for in-ear headphones preferably without the asymmetrical cord under $50 (I'm a college student, so money does matter!) Anyways, I was looking at Sennheiser CX300 for about $30 and was planning on purchasing it until I found it had an asymmetrical cord, which I hate. I had a pair of Sony in-ears with the asymmetrical cord and although the audio quality was good, the cord drove me nuts after awhile. I then switched to V-Moda Bass Freq, which is good for bass heavy music, but it lacks mid-range/highs. Unfortunately, part of the cord is starting to break and I lost one of the rubber pieces (Does anyone know where I can get cheap replacement rubber earbuds?). Well, now I'm looking for a new pair and need help doing so! Thank you.

Metro.fi 2 out of price range but $62 on amazon

Creative EP-640's are really good... symmetrical cord, $20 at Amazon.

Thanks for the responses.
As for the Creative EP-640, how similar are they to the V-Moda Bass Freq in terms of bass levels? I know Creative headphones are targeted to those who enjoy the heavy bass, so that's why I'm asking. Also, are the EP-640 and EP-630 identical? I see Amazon sells it for $30 not $20...? -

I can't compare to the others you mentioned, but I'll say that the bass is quite good on the EP-640, while the high frequencies are just okay. Still, they easily beat a pair of Sony earphones I spent $50 on at one point....
I'm not even going to claim there isn't something better for $50... I haven't tried everything out there or even close... but you can certainly do worse, and they're surprisingly good for their price. -
I heard the Creative EP-640 were almost, if not identical to the EP-630. On Newegg, the EP-630 costs $17 with free shipping, so I'll probably get those and see how they turn out.

I'm enjoying the ink'd in-ear headphones from Skullcandy.

I would like to thank everyone for the input. I have not yet ordered a pair of headphones, but am leaning toward the Creative EP-630.
As for the Skullcandy headphones, I have used them before and didn't really like them much - both audio and physical appearance wise. -
Here's a list (no order)
SoundMagic PL-30 (I have heard these were definitely the best under a hundred. Not bad for $20)
Denon AH-C551 (Excellent for $50)
Creative EP-630 (Burn them in and add the Ultimate Ears Double Flange)
JVC Marshmallow (Burn them in, do the Kramer mod, and add the Shure Foamies)
I'm using the Creative's with the UE Double Flanges right now.
Not bad for $15 + cost of flanges. -

i picked a pair of sennheiser CX500 at Amazon.com for under $50 and i have to say that i am really impressed with the sound quality. Imo it has a nice crisp clear sound and is great for any type of music. The bass is great but does not drown out the rest of the music, but just enough to get bumpin. The earphones will capture the sound of the highs of a Ferrari V12 F1 engine or V8. I listen to any thing from Pavarati to death metal and it will capture every sound to the point to where it was meant to be heard.
I was going to pick up a pair of V moda vibes but i heard they had over powering bass and bad build quality so i got those instead and it was worth every penny. -

I heard the creative 630 is good so you may want to check that out

I know the OP said that they didn't care for Skullcandy, but the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds sound very nice. They also have a built-in volume control as well. And if you are worried about the way they look, you get them in all black...

I have the Shure E2c which I got awhile ago off Amazon for $50. They sound quite good, however the bass is not very strong. I use it with a Ipod Touch 2nd Gen and sometimes the Fiio E3 amp. The amp smooths the deficiencies of the earbuds really well.
