Installing a mouse on a notebook makes touchpad slower??

I'm looking at getting a mouse when my new laptop arrives. This is what I'm looking at buying (Logitech Cordless Mini Optical Mouse). But a customer review from amazon.co.uk for this mouse said that installing the mouse made the touchpad slower "Once installed and in operation it immediately makes the touchpad a lot slower" ( link)
This isn't normal is it?

I wouldn't call that normal, per se. You can still speed the touchpad back up. Plus, if it corrects when you unplug the mouse, does it really matter?

 

When i bought a new wireless mouse for my laptop, then the touchpad indeed slowed down. You can go to settings and make it move faster, but then your mouse moves ultra fast.

 

I have an external mouse I use when I'm at my desk and haven't noticed any slow down with my touchpad or fast speed with the mouse. Dell E1505 with a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000.

 

well, If you have a mouse pluged in, why would you even worry about the touchpad?

 

Oh, I understand. So hopefully the settings should automatically go back again when you remove the mouse, it would be a bit annoying to have to keep changing the input sensitivity every time I remove the mouse to use the touch-pad again.

 

There may be an option to disable the touchpad where the speed will not change. Its in the Control panel, Mouse, Device Settings.
