    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 TA9.

I know other Satellite models have expresscard MCE remotes with IR sensors. Is it hypothetically possible to install the internal IR sensor (there's "room" for it - see below) and purchase the part from another model to have the same abilities applied to my own laptop?

    Anything is possible ;)

If you get the part for that specific notebook then ofcourse, but it may be a hassle to open up the entire laptop just for an IR port.

Well, I've done more more for much less when it comes to toys. ;)

I mostly like the idea of a PCbus/Expresscard remote that just stays in my laptop, and I'm not fortunate enough to have Bluetooth.

Any idea where I could purchase the parts? Would toshiba repair centres be allowed to sell me individual uninstalled parts?

Yeah definietly I would give that a try, at the very least they can point you in the right direction.

When I repair friends notebooks I usually use Ebay to get individual parts and have had great luck finding them all for a good price thus far anyways.

    Good Luck :)
