I just bought one of these from Dell to for 100$ to store all of my music, videos, and pictures. I only have 80gigs in my laptop so Ive moved all my music over there and deleted them off my laptop. I leave my laptop on and this external hd on almost 24/7 so i can play music off it. Should i be worried that it will crash of something and i lose all my data!? Do these things overheat? Cuz they dont have a fan!
    Thanks.

External hard drives, like any other hard drive, can crash and it is normal for them to get warm. With that being said, I would recommend that you at least burn backup cd's or dvd's just in case something happens. I back up about once every 2 months or so to cdr or dvdr depending on how much data I added during the timeframe.

I never worried about backing up my stuff when it was on my laptop's hard drive... any reason i should worri now that its on the external? do they break more easily? Ive never came across a hard drive failure b4 on any of my laptop's or old PCs.
