I do not seem to be able to decide between these two MP3 players.
I can get them both for the same price as can be seen below

I am generally concerned about sound quality and would appreciate a decent pair of headphones. I am not so sure how much I would use blue tooth, especially since this particular Sony A series model does not come with the blue tooth headphones.
The player will be used for walks/runs around the inner city and for general entertainment purposes. I have heard that the Sony A series can be a bit frustrating to load video on to. This will be replacing a Sony E025F USB stick player.
What do you lot think?

I would choose the Ipod.

For audio quality I'd say the Sony has the edge.

I must say I am a bit concerned by the curved screen on the Nano and Itunes equals dictatorship in my opinion.
-
Yeah, I didn't really like the curved screen on the Nano but I do like that design over the stupid square shape of the 3 gen Nano. The new Nano's are supposed to be coming out after the back-to-school sale so either mid September of early October. GB size might increase so you could get 16 GB for the price of 8 GB and there's a possibility of a camera being added. I personally think adding the camera is awesome (I'm pissed it didn't come on the Touch) so maybe it's worth the wait. If not, I would just go with the Nano. I have absolutely no knowledge of the Sony player but just looking at it I would not get it. I've never really like the design of Sony MP3 players. -
The Sony comes with better stock headphones and sound quality will most likely be better. It seems a bit larger though. If the size is no issue I would go with the Sony. This is assuming the Sony is drag and drop now. Sony's software just isnt as good as Itunes from my experience.

Yeah the Sony player is drag and drop, so I could use it with almost any software I like, possibly even Itunes. Waiting for the new Nano sounds tempting as Sony also is about to realease its new generation of players. If I do end up getting the Nano I will have to spend NZ$88 on Sennheiser CX-300s in order to get sufficient sound quality and isolation.

I wrote this out to try and determine what I wanted. Did I get my facts and stuff right?

Does that particular Sony have noise cancellation? I had good experiences with noise canceling Sony mp3 players. The earbuds were decent and the noise cancellation actually worked.

No this model does not have noise cancellation. I have had noise cancellation headphones in the past (6 years ago however), and I found that they were pretty terrible. I have however tried closed system headphones and I find that they work much better at blocking out noise without affecting sound quality.
-
Sony's canal phones are not that great at noise isolation so I found the noise cancellation to be pretty useful when I had my Sony NW-S705F.

Chances are I will use the EX082s that come with the player initially until I have build up some cash to buy something better from the likes of Shure, Ultimate Ears or Sennheiser.

Zune + Shure SE530 = bliss.

The Zune is still not available in New Zealand. The Apple Ipod Classics is the only hard drive option widely available in New Zealand.
I would be looking seriously at a Zune if they were made available.
Ipod Nano 8GB or Sony NWZA828B
