Hi. I have a new Toshiba laptop with bluetooth as well as wi-fi and I want to get a bluetooth mouse for it.

In the toshiba 'connectivity' application it recommends not using both at the same time as they will interfere. Surely not. I thought they were compatible?

I find that hard to believe - it would surely kill the idea of the BT mouse

I've never heard of that. I use BT and Wi-Fi simulataneously all the time on my T61p and I use a BT mouse. You should be just fine.

Its possible to have interference, but its hard to get and not very common. Offhand tho I thought it was just wireless mice that use the same FQ as Wi-Fi not BT but maybe I have them backwards.

I know for sure there are wireless accesories that use the same frequency as wi-fi (be it BT or just plain wireless) but even if you do have one interference is hard to get and usually only if you have it close to the wireless AP/Router.

honest - that's what it says on the application, but Im sure it's wrong. Ill go ahead and get a BT mouse - sure it'll be OK after what you say.
Can you recommend an inexpensive one with 5 buttons, and optical of course
    Thanks

I use wifi and a logitech wireless mouse also running on 2.4GHz, no interference. so i doubt very much your going to have problems with BT

If you have a mobile phone with bluetooth you could try tranferring some files and see if it works, just to be sure.
