I wouldn't mind having a blu ray player for the ew laptop i'm getting. But it costs £90 more and the screen res is 1920 x 1080 so already HD. What should I do?

if you plan to watch a lot of blu ray movies, although personally for that price I'll just save up a bit more and get a ps3 instead
-
I already have a ps3 haha xD It's more of just a name, is it worth it?
-
really depends on you, me for example it's not worth it (even rarely use a dvd drive as it is) and would prioritize other upgrades first like SSD, Ram maybe GPU/CPU over a blu-ray.
but if you have extra cash and have already added the required upgrades and think you'd be able to get some use out of it then by all means go ahead -

Who watches blu-rays on their laptops?

I thought about buying an external BD drive but decided against it. The only time I really ever need an optical drive is if I need to burn something which is very rare and I can use my desktop for that. Everything can be downloaded/converted to exe/msi or ISO files anyways (Alcohol 52%). I don't really watch movies on my laptop unless I am travelling, but even then I just put them all on a portable external hard drive.

I saw a USB external Blu-Ray disc drive at Fry's for $60 the other day. If it's a $90 upgrade and you're questioning whether you'd even use it, I'd skip it.

If you watch alot of blue ray movies on your laptop then yes. But otherwise a standard drive is fine.

I don't use my BluRay player much but it is nice to have, I set it up for my kids to watch in our Van on long trips.

needed maybe. all depends on your use but I would recommend it as long as its not more then a 100 or 150 bucks. I assume they are all cheaper than that now but just saying. I wish i had one....Mine would have cost me 180-190 bucks when i got my laptop so it wasn't worth it.
Is a built in blu ray player needed?
