I got a new laptop and bought a Logiteck M310 and from what I've seen it's a good all around mouse. This mouse has a invisible optic eye unlike my MS corded mouse which has red light optic eye which I used with my desktop (which I sold) on a black mouse pad which works great.
So now I use my laptop on the dinning room table made of wood. This wireless M310 mouse works pretty good but does not seem to be as smooth as my corded MS mouse I used with a black pad.
I've tried the corded mouse on the table with my laptop and it seems smoother than my wireless and thats without any mouse pad too. I don't have any mouse pads any more cause threw it in garbage cause it was getting dirty.
My question is do you think it's possible that optic eye thats my wireless has was just meant to work at it's best on a mouse pad ?
Thanks and sorry I probably made this discussion longer than it needed to be.

I have a few Wireless Mice like you have. I don't really have any problems using them on wood w/out a Mouse Pad.
I rarely use a Mouse Pad unless deskside. Have you tried to use the mouse on another surface?
Also, your post was just fine!

No. I think pad have a more consistent surface than a wooden desk. In all but some rare cases, the surface is negligible.

The way optical mice are designed is that they are able to be used on various surfaces...though the benefits of actually using a mouse pad, for any mouse, for example would be- Less wear on the mouse feet, more consistent tracking...and (avoids the tapping sound every time you place the mouse down..

I would say just about any mouse works best on a proper mouse pad. With some, the difference is just more pronounced than others.

It depends on the material as well, as there is a quite a variety of mousepads. There is also quite a variety of desk and table surfaces. And this really has nothing to do with a mouse being wireless or not.
Is it possible that some wireless mice just work best with a mouse pad ?
