Hi everyone.
It seems like people are more interested in Logitech v400 (40 page thread). Since it has a bad tracking, I think I have to look for another mouse. As far as I know, the Microsoft notebook mouse 6000 is the only wireless laser notebook mouse that has an extra button that can be set as "back" button beside the v400. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is it worth to buy the Microsoft notebook mouse 6000? What are the 5 Customizable Buttons? Is it easy to reach the magnifying button by thumb? I have seen people complaining bad working distance and signal. Is it true? I currently have a logitech V200, and it works great. Is microsoft notebook mouse 6000 better than v200? Thank you.

I just finished posting about this great mouse on another forum and want to share my opinions here also. After owning numerous mice and roller ball pointers, in my opinion there just isn't anything close to the 6000. Although I'm not quite sure where they get the fifth button, I certainly like the layout and the fact that every button can be programmed in numerous different ways. The back button will always be my thumb button and I use the scroll button for the magnifier. Maybe they consider the scroll button the fifth button because it tilts from left to right and also is a push down button. I don't quite understand the range complaints as I never take the mouse more than 10" away from the notebook.
The mouse feels incredibly comfortable in the hand and the button layout couldn't be better. The only thing that could improve this mouse in my opinion is to have the forward button like the V400. The transmitter is USB powered and conviently snaps in the bottom of the mouse for carrying. Tracking is the best I've ever experienced and I'm a little dismayed to learn of the complaints of the V400 because I was contemplating it as my next mouse, not that there is anything wrong with the 6000 but i just like that extra button. Go for the 6000, you won't regret it!

Thank you Ed. Your opinions are very helpful.

how does the wheel work as the middle button? I bought the logitech mx1000 today and will be giving it back due to the fact that it's too easy to accidentally scroll when a click is intended. I'm now looking for another mouse, hope you can tell me the 6000 is better in that regard.

my Microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000 (not the notebook one) is better in that regard, like i said in the other thread, i can click it without scrolling but for 3d programs i find it easier to just set middle click to another button, but i still use middle click all the time for some programs, with the wheel.
Is it woth to buy the Microsoft notebook mouse 6000
