Hello guys, I have a Dell U2312HM monitor and there are red lines going all the way across the screen. I have been using the monitor since last December and this problem only occurred once or twice during this time. But now, the problem won't go away.

I have it connected to a laptop using a DVI - HDMI adapter attached to the monitor and then a HDMI cable connecting to my laptop.

Is this a driver problem, monitor profile problem, cable problem, or some other issue?

Is there any way you can try the monitor with another computer? That visual distortion could be associated with a GPU driver or hardware malfunction...

I don't have another computer that can connect using HDMI or DVI. The weird thing is that sometimes the monitor works and sometimes it doesn't. For example, right now, it's working fine again.

Does this happen when you boot to the BIOS screen and leave it alone for a while? Try changing the cable or the DVI/HDMI adapter? Does it happen on the laptop's own screen?

It only happens on the external monitor. The problem occurs randomly. Sometimes it will work fine for a day or two and then the problem will show up again. Can't try with another DVI adapter unless I buy another one.

Does that show up on top of the monitors OSD? if it does it's likely the panel its self. If it doesn't that doesn't rule out monitor issues, but it's a good start.
