I just want to make sure its compatible with Vista before I buy it.

Also, after reading some reviews it seems like it doesn't necessarily catch channels that well with its antenna. However, when at home I can still plug my cable right up to the USB dongle right? I don't HAVE to use an antenna if I don't want, correct?

I'm not really worried about whether or not I can watch TV when I bring my laptop with me outside of the house, but when I'm at home I'd like the picture to be just as good as if I was watching on any old regular TV set. I just want to make sure I have my facts straight.

Yes. You can even get it to work with Vista Media Center, but I recommend using the application bundled with the tuner.

Well, that's what happens when you only have a 6" antenna ;) HDTV is a little problematic in the reception department, but mostly because there are only a few channels out there so you might not be in a good area with a lot of channels to start with.

Nope. I mean, something needs to be plugged in for the best effect though...antenna, cable box output, something...
