    Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a wired gaming mouse for my M14X. I don't want
to think about buying new batteries so wireless is out of the question; besides, wired mice are faster than wireless ones.

What are your comments? Do you have one? What similar offerings should I consider?

    Thanks,
    Charismaztex

As far as wired mice go, that one is by far my favorite. If logitech made a wireless version, I'd buy ten.

    1) Yes, the Logitech G9x is a good mouse. The imaging sensor in that mouse is an Avago S9500, considered by many hardcore mice nerds to be the best imaging sensor you can have in a mouse.

    2) You may also want to consider getting a Logitech G500 (also uses Avago S9500 sensor), or a Razer DeathAdder. Personally, I like Logitech mice better than Razer.

    3) Some top-end wireless mice have recharging mechanisms that do not require you to swap batteries. A mouse like the Logitech G700 uses a single rechargeable Sanyo Eneloop AA NiMH rechargeable battery. You recharge the battery by plugging a USB cable into the mouse (during which time you can still use the mouse).

The Logitech G700 also uses the Avago S9500 laser sensor, has performance specs equivalent to the top-end wired mice (1000Hz USB polling rate, and 5700dpi). I personally don't like wireless mice because I don't like dealing with recharging batteries at all... but I just wanted to mention the Logitech G700 to you, just in case you had the assumption that "wireless mouse" automatically meant "swapping batteries".

It is a good mouse. As others have said, good laser sensor and somewhat customizable shape. I owned a G9 for a while (same shape/grips, older sensor).

As for wired vs. wireless, high-end gaming wireless mice are capable of 1,000Hz USB polling/1ms response, which is as fast as any wired gaming mouse.

If you're looking for a good wired mouse, I'd recommend the Razer DeathAdder (my personal favorite), or the Logitech G400 (refresh of the MX518, my second favorite :p).

i completely agree with this one. the g700 mouse is awesome because it is wireless, but if you are low on battery, you simply plug it in, and (while its still plugged in) you can still play. It would just feel like a regular corded mouse. its kinda cool. i love mine.

heres a review of the g700 to get a better idea

Echoing the recommendation for the Logitech G9x. Probably the last mouse you will ever need to buy. Period

The G9x and the G500 are pretty much the same thing in a different package. Try out both to see which one feels better for your.

The Logitech G9X is a great mouse, has a good feel, nice weight; it has cool little lights that you can change to different colors. It has one small, well, rather long problem though--the cord is like 6 feet long. It's always wrapped up in a mess and falling off the edge of my desk.

Use a twistie tie or zip tie, to tie up the mouse cord near the usb port.

That way, you get rid of a lot of the excess cable length on your desk.

Alternatively just get a G700 and forget about the cord...
