Is there a port that could single handedly support QFHD/4K displays?

I've always been interested of buying a very very big display to use along with my laptop at home, but I've found out that anything beyond the typical 1920x1080 widescreen requires 2 or even as many as 4 DVI/HDMI ports, which is usually simply impossible for a laptop.

So I'm wondering, is there any port that can actually support these displays alone? I'm not familiar with this kind of things at all so I don't know. I've heard firewire is amazing, but is it any use for displays though?

I know QFHD (3840x2130) are not easily available yet, and even less supported by graphics cards, but I believe they probably will soon.

Currently available ports simply can't handle 4K resolutions. If/when those resolution monitors become standard we'll also be looking at the next versions of Display Port and (quad-link) DVI ports to handle the bandwidth.

I see, I was afraid of that. :p I guess I can't help but to wait.

    Thanks.
