I have the BookBook for Iphone and it's amazingly durable. They have a Macbook Pro 13 and 15 version, but my laptop is between the 13 and the 15 in size so none of them really fits.
I was looking for something similar for PC laptops. A hard sleeve/case. Besides the cool factor the sleeve/hardcover acts like a laptop-rest when your in bed.
I have a dedicated beanie-bag type laptop arm rest I use in bed from Ikea but its not that ideal, and I would prefere my sleeve doubling so I dont have to carry it around. The problem is always when your using your laptop in bed, in couches at friends places or outside laying down. you want that ability to have your laptop resting on something;
1) for better typing experience
2) to keep air vents free
3) to not burn yourself if it gets hot
4) and a all around sleeve for obvious protection.
edit; iif you dont know the bookbook:

I doubt that you can find something like that (for the Apple) to support non-Apple notebooks. There are just too many "sizes" for the manufacturer to consider to make it a worthwhile development. Not to mention the ventilation requirements.
The beanie-bag tray is the best for notebooks when using in bed to date - I use one. Or you might have to build one yourself
cheers ...
Is there any Hardcases like the BookBook (genuine leather) ?
