Is there anything wrong with using paper twice in a laser printer?

I thought I heard a long time ago that it is not good to use paper more than once in a laser printer because it has some sort of coating on it that goes away after it is run through the printer once.

Is this true? A lot times we will print on one side and no longer need it and the other side is blank.

Not sure why it isn't good. I think I heard it was bad for the printer. I would e-mail a paper company, but their answer is biased.

lol my experiences (on my old mono laser printer that prints 4 pages a minute) are that the printed side of the paper gets stuck on to the rollers....

That might be the reason. I have never had that problem though.

Well, I guess that's fine. Just make sure that you wait for the paper to cool down before you put it back in the printer so it doesn't crinkle and jam, and so the toner doesn't melt back on to the rollers (like what I experienced).

But, I must say, it really is the worst thing to watch your printer eat up paper, very slowly.

i'm pretty sure you can use the paper twice, my printer has an option to print on both sides, but i've never really tried it out.

I print with used paper all the time. Say if I had an old document laying around, and I need to print out a label to tape on something, I'll just use the back of the document. Hasn't hurt my printer in the years I've been doing it.

Older laser printers print much hotter which deforms the paper a bit, but if you use printing paper specifically for laser printers, you should have a problem no matter how many times you print it!

it should be fine, when my mom gets coupon online she prints it out, turns the paper around and prints another one and so far nothing has gone wrong so its ok.

I think it's fine. I print double sided all the time and nothing's happened to my printer or myself...I think...uh duuuhhhhhhhh!!~~.....lol jk. Yea, just give it a few seconds to cool down before putting it back in tho.

printing on both sides does not harm any laser printer. More expensive laser printers have an automatic duplex device already installed, so they print on both sides automatically if activated.

So both sides of a sheet of paper are printable, it does work, it does not damage anything and you can do it.

I've never had a problem printing multiple times on the same piece of paper in my laser printer (HP Laserjet 4000 and 4100); I do it quite often.
