I'm looking for a bag, box, SOMETHING that can protect my laptop from heat whenever I put my laptop in my car's trunk. I'm sure the heat can damage my laptop, so is there something that I can put it in that can keep the temperature cool?

im open to any home-made devices and typical household things that work well too

speaking of heat, can anyone provide a technical perspective on how external heat can damage a laptop?

    thank you!

you're likely to get condensation inside your laptop as it cools from being in a hot, humid trunk. i wouldn't make a practice of this. also i'd be afraid of any plastic on the notebook warping...i dont whether it an actually happen or not.

as for a cooling box to prevent this, think about buying a few 120mm fans, building a custom enclosure from lucite or maybe even cardboard and rigging it to run on batteries. maybe add a desktop liquid cooling system as well. it cant be hard to build, and would probably be worth the money spent.

I wouldn't be leaving my notebook for long periods in my car to be honest. I live in Florida and the temperatures in cars get hot enough to melt things left in the car.

90 to 100 I wouldn't worry about. Florida in August? 150+ and I would definitely worry about anything inthe trunk.

I would be worried about the casings warping and damage to the screen, everything else should be fine if its off. If its off, then get a case of some sort (like an aluminum type briefcase) and find some thermal insulation to put in there, and surround the laptop. That should keep the heat out long enough.
