I'm not familiar with laptop lock. I bought this lock on internet because there isn't any shop selling Kensington lock here. But I don't think the lock I've bought is real. The quality looks so poor that I guess it is fake. I took some photos,so please help to identify if the lock is real or not.
I know this is silly,but...Thank you.![]()

I don't think anyone's going to forge a $20 product. That's like making counterfeit pennies.

Some locks are pretty bad. I have had good luck with the Targus notebook locks. They look a bit similar, but they are solid.

I don't know how to tell if it's a counterfeit Kensington lock since I'm not familiar with their product. However, I do know that other lock companies make a variety of lock of varying quality. I remember when I bought my bike lock from " Kryptonite" their cheapest lock was nothing more than a cable you could get from a local hardware store. So unless you paid a high amount for their best, you may have just, "gotten what you paid for?"
In any event, the only way to know for sure is to ask the company. I'm pretty sure they'd be interested to know if anyone is forging their products.
On more thing to keep in mind: no lock regardless of quality is a sure bet to protect you computer from theft. NEVER depend on them solely to keep someone from stealing your laptop. I consider them "turn you back security." In other words, they protect against someone taking your laptop but when you turn your back. That means, don't leave the room!
Remember, in most cases, it's the data on your laptop that's of the most importance to thieves these days.
Is this Kensington lock fake?
