Instead of a Kalman NC1000. I did it mostly because of the 3 fans vs 2 fans.
Hopefully it will provide better cooling to my Vostro 1400. I'm lucky so far to have no graphic card problem (heat related) that is plaguing this and other models. Almost 2 years.
GPU = 8400M GS w/ 128MB. On default clock of 400/500/800 core/mem/shader, it reaches 90 C when playing game. Too dangerous.
I want to be able to overclock a little bit too. Lets see how the Cryo NZXT will do for cooling the laptop.
Will post up a review once I get it.

King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
You won't be disappointed. After putting vents in the plastic panel directly below my GPU it dropped temps 15-20C.

They look good. I ordered one for my Dell XPS due to the fan placement being better than the Zalman NC2000 for my machine. Unfortunately after waiting 3 weeks, I called up the store I'd ordered from, only to be told there was a massive shortage here in Aus, and the next batch wouldn't arrive for another month... So I cancelled.
I look forward to the review! -
In the mean time I undervolted my CPU by 0.225 V. I have a feeling I can get it down one or two more steps.
CPU temp won't budge past 60 C using ORTHOS. Awesome. Before it would peak at 73 C.
Nice -13C gain from that. -
You'll have lots of room to move your Vostro around on the Cryo-LX to find a 'sweet spot' for cooling. The LX dwarfs my M1330. Love it though.
-
Its a great advantage to have 3 than 2 fans becuse you can find a better spot for colling but with 2 fans you can do good job too. How much did you bought the Cryo NZXT?
-
I just ordered one too. Should be here next week. I can post back with impressions.
-
Woah, it cost $70 bucks.... lol
I wanted one for around 25 bucks for my m1530 with the 8600gt -
congrats to all u guys that made the leap. glad to see alot of dell guys cuz i use a cryo LX for my m1530 as well. hope u guys like it

Best cooler I have used thus far. Keeps my OC'd 8600mGT in my vostro cool and quiet. The price may be high, but you have to remember that you are not only getting one of the best(I think its THE best) coolers on the market, but also a USB hub and an angled stand for your laptop.
-
I hear ya but 70 bucks is very steep.
I was thinking this...

If I can sell my processors, I may pick one of these up. I could build something similar for less than $70, but I'm sure it wouldn't look near as good.
-
And may start electrical fires
-
it will pay for itself in the long run.

i want one of these puppies i just need 20 dollars more and im their...yay cant wait....my computer will run so cold it wont want to turn on........lol

The zalmans fans are indirect which is why there is no spot, it is designed to generate a pocket of air under the laptop. The Cryo is a little more direct, though plenty of cases make this the best cooler for the job.
Personally my decision between the two units would be based entirley on the laptop. Zalman for myne as the cryo would only hit half the vents one of those it would most likley miss is the gpu vent and my laptop had no direct vent. Most HP's and many dells it seems would be better suited to the NZXT cryo lx.
@Cost remarks - You get what you pay for, the aluminum in some of these coolers is what drives the price up. The zalman and the cryo are pretty simple and can be fixed if they break. Unless something crushes the cooler I will keep it and fix it when its old. -

Your post pretty much just goes to point out what i was saying think about it.
The laptop is the decision in the cooler.
The G50V/VT's vents are all in the front facing half of the unit and it has no main fan vent. Its a force draw system and trying to force air into wont work and at best undermines the laptops fan performance with turbulent air. The G50 was designed to do its best under its own cooling because the reality is not everyone uses a cooler.
The zalman has 99% coverage on my particular laptop in the normal centered position. Which is why i bought it. Had i bought an XPS the decision would be different. The G50's cooling system simply wasnt designed to work with a large amount of air or a cooler. As i said The laptop is the decision in the cooler, your description of the cryo's differences and how they fit particular laptops only goes to what i was saying.
I do feel the NC 2000 is only big enough for a 16 inch laptop and I call BS on the box claiming 20 inch, a dragon would probably wobble on it -
i also, strongly, agree with what u said about costs. coolers made with aluminum chassis stay cool, so all the air produced by the cooler is also cool. all in all, u made a smart purchase and u'r happy with it. that's all that matters. -

Yeah i had plenty of trouble posting and editing myne as well.
I did remember something in this short little convo though. As much as i have plans to keep the Zalman.... no telling how the replacement for the G71 will be setup and I also forgot about the fact I am moving up to a 17 inch.... uh oh lol
If the G50 turns out to be a survivor I might mod the zalman just for it. I have 2 usb ports in a bad location that I could easily use to provide more power to the zalman and then install an extra usb hub.
The zalman lacks in the usb department and without using 2 ports anything with a passthrough (cooler, hard drive enclosure) suffers for power.
Just ordered a Cryo NZXT cooler
