My laptop keyboard keeps pressing both shift keys for 5 seconds then stops and does it again. It does this even when the laptop is folded and the laptop screen is facing the keyboard in a closed position. The onscreen keyboard shows both shift keys as being pressed on a seperate monitor

It could very well be a defective keyboard.
Plug in a USB keyboard (borrow one if you have to) and see if the problem follows on that.
You can use the on-screen keyboard in Windows to input text if all else fails. (Click the Start menu, type keyboard, it should come up.)

Most likely a dirt on keyboard cable. I'd try Charles suggestion first to isolate if its a hardware issue or not!

Checked Ease of Access settings, I once changed some weird settings that automatically writes everything in CAPS and using Shift it writes/types in lower case.

Can you check which Touchpad driver is installed using device manager? Is it the same one provided by MSI?
-
yes the driver for touch pad is msi> update: my left shift key and caps lock keys do not work anymore or are not recognized by my onscreen keyboard when pressed i am not sure why because all other keys seem to be functioning properly if this is not fixed i may have to buy a new keyboard and i hope i can find a solution before i am forced to so please if there are any solutions share also my keyboard is a steel series msi gt sixty

Ok after a bit it, It seems the problem is coming from left Shift and/or Capslock, it works fine for a bit then the left shift gets completely pressed on its own and results in the all caps, does that mean I need a new keyboard or just try to clean the left shift key, and if yes how do I remove the key frm the MSI Steel series laptop without damaging it
KEYBoaRd ShIFt Keys AUTOMATICALLY stUCK WITHOUT PERMISSION
