I just bought a dell E1705 and with it the Kensington expansion dock as dell claimed it had a SPDIF port and the E1705 doesn't. However after looking at this review I don't see a SPDIF port on there. It says it has support for 5.1 sound so is there an adapter I need to get?

Here's a review with close up shots.

If dell is wrong in it's description then I'd like to know so I can cancel the dock since the only reason I got it was so I could hook my E1705 to my sound system.

    Thanks

Looking at the pictures on the E1705 review, I cannot see an SPDIF port, however, there may be a supplied adaptor. On my Inspiron 8100, there is an adaptor that converts the S-Video port into an S-Video Out, Composite Video Out and SPDIF. I'm pretty sure there will be a supplied adaptor with the laptop. You need not worry.

I don't understand the point in getting the dock. What good will it do? If your laptop itself has an SPDIF port, why get the dock? Dosen't SPDIF support 5.1 speakers?
