Help me pick the back light color of my next keyboard.

I am going to use black key caps and my choices are.

    White, Blue and Green.

Here is what it looks like in Green

Here is blue w/ White Keycaps

I have green on order but blue and white just became an option recently. I kind of like blue, but green is a bit more unique.

White is not really impressive to me I have white on my G73 already.

Any chance you could upload them here or Imageshack? I don't feel like creating a geekhack account just to view those. :p

Green is my all-time favorite color; if I could replace all the LED coloring on everything I own with green, I'd love it. But for now I've got pretty much exclusively blue.

I've also read that blue and red lighting are less blinding than green, which is why emergency light sources tend to be red, sometimes blue. Not sure how much truth there is to that, but if it's true, then perhaps red or blue are statistically better to have as a key lighting than green. *shrug*

Speaking in led's and wave lengths blue is about the brightest, red is one of the darkest.

In the Marines we had red lens's for our flashlights so we could get around in the dark without giving away much presence.

I'm actually pretty happy with the white in my G73.. I modded it a couple of times but in the end I always came back to white.
The white in the g73 is however on a the slight bluish side, I would prefer a pure white light (or something as close to it as possible)

    Yeah KBC Race

I love my new poker, this is like a slightly bigger version that has arrow keys & a delete key.

If it fits in my bag as easy and on the laptop palm rest like the Poker I will prefer this one, if not this may become my new desktop keyboard to free up desk space.

I have a green backlit keyboard and i've gotta say it's quite nice. Took a bit to get used to it, but now i like it, hope you have a mouse without leds or one that can match the keyboard.

I feel that blue has been a bit overdone lately.

Red works for me. Green's nice, blues are a bit overdone but it's nice and bright, and tends to match more kit.

But hey, the Geekhack "My Keyboard Is The Barbie Doll I Always Wanted" Brigade sees no need to match, so I guess you should do your own thing.

Everything is green with the exception of around the touch-pad, volume buttons and possibly the fake exhaust ports.

Stuck with green, its a neat color and more rare, but yeah all the other things that light up on my desk tend to be blue.

Yeah, i feel you there, i got a mouse that could do green to go with my keyboard or more precisely, my mouse has some level of color customization which helped me make the decision for the green keyboard for my desktop. It may just be my particular board, but i get a lot less light bleed on my green backlit. The blue LEDs are a lot brighter though, in the pic, you see the green on maximum luminosity and the blue on minimum.

You should know the color spectrum of light. From strongest to lowest: blue, purple, green, yellow, orange, red.

I'd say go with green. white reminds me of mac's and blue is used too often

Why not just choose LED's that are capable of changing colors like the Steelseries one in the MSI branded laptops. The colors are changed through software and you can have a combination of 3 different colors. That way, you can change your color when you get bored with it. I change my colors every week. I usually try to match whatever my desktop wallpaper is.

I never really bothered to look. How much more are the LED's capable of changing colors?

Not that much, but they are somewhat of a rarity in gaming keyboards. There is also the matter of the LED's size/number of pins, that is why you don't see mech keyboards with that kind of leds. More easily done on a keyboard where you can have a diffuser for the backlight as it takes less leds and you don't have to place them right below the keys.

red is the best but its a rare backlight on keyboards

red light doesn't wreck your night vision as much as other colors do. that's scientifically proven.
