This is a serious question. No joke. Now that I live in a home with 3 dogs, hair has become a serious issue.
Is there a really good, effective vacuum cleaners for laptops and desktops both?

For the laptop, the only safe way to do it is take the keyboard off your self and then clean it, which is very simple.

Solve the problem not the aftermath of the problem :D

    Ok serious answer.

Id probably see about a plastic cover for the keyboard if its really bad. You do not use a regular vaccum the static that builds up on the tip can damage the system, plus honestly it probably wont get stuff between the keys and under them very well. Compressed air generally work better since it has a lot more pressure.

Another option. Keep the laptop safely covered/closed and use an external keyboard/monitor.

I actually use the soft brush available on most vacuum to clean my M17X. I don't hesitate to do it every two weeks or so and to this day after a year of abuse I still have no scratches on the PC. I use the vacuum on the keyboard and on all the vents...

Yes, though I don't think any manufacturer would recommend it. But with care, it can be done. Hand vac are best since they have a pretty moderate suction.

As for static, it can be a concern, though here in Florida, it's rarely a problem. I also use Pledge which is anti-static.

Still, the best solution is the cover along with regular moderate cleaning (with Q-tips). Not to mention, isolating the animals away from your computer.

I used an USB powered mini vacuum to clean my Asus G73Jh keyboard and speaker's grill but the result was not that positive especially the speaker's grill. The next target is to buy cleaning compund such as Cyber Clean. Do you guys used it before? Effective?

That's because USB doesn't provide enough voltage to do much of anything on an appliance like that. Try a plug-in or battery powered hand-held variety. You should get much better results.

However, the secret is to not let your computer get too dirty in the first place. When I had my desktop I kept it covered when not in use. With my laptop, I clean it daily with a light spray of Pledge. After nearly a year of use, it still shines like the day I bought it. And that's no exaggeration.

I don't suppose you could pop up a review of cyber-clean if decide to get some, could you? Just heard about the stuff the other day and I was intrigued; but not enough to buy any. I have a kind of "travel repair kit" that I'm always adding things to, and that stuff seems like it might be a solid alternative to compressed air (can't exactly carry the stuff on planes).

I understand this, but I as well have an Asus G73 and the speaker grill no matter what, will get infected with all sorts of stuff. At least I am sure it does. I have just been waiting for some nbr genius to come up with a fix...

I second this. My Asus G73Jh-A2 has the same difficulties of cleaning up the dust on the speaker grill. The dust will somehow slips into the minute holes of the speaker grills and it won't go out. Somebody has even tried to use air compressor to clean it up but it was not working at all. :(

I bought this USB vacuum from ebay (China) last year - worst piece of crap I've ever purchased in my life. It would barely suck the hair/dirt and when it did, it would blow it out the other end allover the place (no bag/containment of any sort) :p I just use a living room/home vacuum now and brush the nozel across the keys lightly. But I'm sure more expensive USB vacuums work much better LOL

OMG . . . the CyberClean was stuck inside my Asus G73Jh's speaker grill . . . The moral value of the story is never use CyberClean to clean your speaker grill.
