Ok, so here's my dilemma. When I get my new laptop I will be using it with my 47'' hdtv as an external monitor. I'll by using an external keyboard and mouse but I have nothing to put them on. The lapboards I have looked at were too small and the wheeled laptop caddies I've seen didn't look like they'd work with my chair (and they'd be too small for a full size keyboard):

I know somebody else here must have a similar setup. What do you use? I'm thinking I might just end up making some sort of table myself.

It sounds like you're going to wind up with an awesome setup eventually. Is this setup for work or for gaming? I ask this question because I work from home as a transcriptionist and I am looking into various workstation setup options.

I do not have any solutions for your dilemma, as I have run into the same problems, but this looks interesting:

Anyway, I would be interested to know what others recommend as far as ergonomics are concerned when typing for long periods of time using a laptop and what type of setup works for them.

    Good luck w/your setup!

Thanks for the response! The setup is mainly for gaming, but I do school work on my computer (I take classes online) so it's kind of a mix. That link you posted is definitely the nicest looking caddy I've seen! The only problem though is that my chair has you reclining a little bit, so I'd need something that would sit low, just above the arms, so I could type and use the mouse comfortably.

The chair is great as it has built in speakers and a transducer for low frequency sounds/vibration effects. Great addition if you want a surround sound effect but don't always want the loud volume required. :)

If I find something/build something on my own, I'll post some pics!

you could get one of those big tables that they use at schools, its got two thin legs that fold up into the bottom so you could scoot it right up to your chair and they come very large so you could put a whole lot of crap on it

    Edit: Woot 75th post!

    Youre welcome! :)

It is an amazing keyboard, and has a touchpad built in. Operates using Bluetooth.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just read that the setup is mainly for gaming.
