I have an old dell keyboard that I still use 9 years now that is from the old dell xps 8100 desktop series years ago that i use with my dell xps 15 9550 laptop now. I connect it to one of the usb ports in the four port usb hub. Just earlier, i noticed my keyboard does not work at all. I pretty much have it connected almost always to that usb port even when i turn off my computer. I know it no the four port usb issue because other devices work on it.
Now what i did was the last few days many times i would unplug my keyboard from the usb port and connect it to a chromebook i use... mainly because certain number keys don't' work on my chromebook. Now I didn't thought about this until now, but can you damage a keyboard if you unplug it from a usb port if you don't click that eject device on the bottom right? I know you suppose to do that with usb flash drives but what about keyboards?
Can someone tell me if there is a way to fix my keyboard? Before i turned off my laptop last night, my dell keyboard had no issues at all. The thing is i like this keyboard a lot because its comfortable... like where the palm rest is.

Okay i restarted laptop and it now works. Is this normal? I googled on what to do here and tried that.

Given the age, might be the USB cable that is broken in some spot, if you move the cable around and it connects and disconnects, its the cable.
