I'm on the verge of ordering a sensei to replace my mx518. I tried out the diablo III mouse, and really liked the form.

My only question is whether the sensei has a metallic finish or if it's just a glossy plastic coating like the mx518. How does it feel in your hand?

EDIT: Also I'm wondering if the fnatic version has a better feel. Not a fan of the logo, but the colors are a bit different, which I like :)

    glossy plastic "metal feel" coating.

the fnatic version does NOT have a better feel to it, but it surely looks nice

check your PM, send you a message ;)

Ok, so it's not actually a metal coating as they claim. But it feels more like metal than glossy plastic? Brushed metal-feel? I'm still confused... Have you tried the mx518? I'm wondering how the coating compares.

The fnatic version is neither glossy or rubberised (like the RAW versions), but it is 100 kr more expensive. Decisions, decisions...

    Thanks for the PM ;)

It is a metal coating.. but it's on plastic. It doesn't feel cheap at ALL, but you know it's plastic, and you also know it's a special coating. It makes everything perfect, very light too.

It has a brushed metal feel to it. And yes I have tried the mx518, it doesn't really compare.. different coatings.

The fnatic version is definitely neat and is supposed to feel the same way with a slightly different twist, although I am not sure.

I would preferably go with the Sensei since it indeed is a mouse and +100 isn't worth the price just for greater looks, but hey maybe I'm wrong

The special metal coating has done that all my sweats DOESN'T get sucked in as it would the current rubberized logitech mice, and also it doesn't wear off at all.

+ there's hundreds of lighting options to have fun with

gl hf with your purchase :) I should have a review up and running very soon, came home from vacation 2 days ago

Thanks mate. Made it much clearer for me. :) Still not sure which version I'll go for. I think I will check out the original sensei in person, and if I don't like the looks of it I'll get the fnatic edition (which I'm liking more and more).

    Thanks for the help!

    Ok no I was wrong.

The only difference between the usual Sensei and the fnatic one is the finish. The normal Sensei ccomes with a glossy finish, the reflective one and the fnatic comes with a dark matte finish.

check: Steelseries Sensei FNATIC Edition Mouse Review - YouTube and FNATIC.com: A Guide to SteelSeries Mice World ;) have fun

Thanks for all the valuable information on this thread. You have helped me make a decision to get the SteelSeries Sensei.

This will replace a Razer Ouroboros I've had for about three weeks. Over this time I've had nothing but grief from Razer's so-called technical support. The mouse hasn't worked since I got it having tracking issues and other quality problems. Their support has done more to anger me than to help, which isn't saying much since they haven't helped me in the least bit. Curiously, their brand new mouse has disappeared from stores everywhere.

For anyone else out there looking to get a new gaming mouse I would strongly suggest that you reconsider your thoughts on Razer. You do not want to buy products from a company with terrible quality control and even worse technical support.

If i can give my 2 cents.

I recently bought a Razer taipan, i bought this after i owned a diamondback for like 8 - 9 years.
This a really nice mouse and i think for claw users a really great mouse, i didnt go for the mamba because its some kind of to big so no good for me.

Now yesterday I received my Razer Ouroboros, for now i wanted wireless for one time in my life, becuase always with wire and this looks the first good wireless mouse.

At first hand alot heavier then the diamondback and taipan but no issue, but still lighter then a RAT, the handling is perfect and the wireless is great.

I think if you dont have a budget and looking for a great mouse, the ouroboros is for sure one!
Also it's nice to know they been working 3 years on this mouse.
